AR 102 MODULAR DESIGN

 IWAMOTO SCOTT IN OUT CURTAİN

In-Out Curtain was produced for the exhibition Ornament, as a digital fabrication prototype. It is formed as a modulated structural surface made of laser-cut and folded hollow wood veneer modules - operating as a hybrid between a curtain and blind.

Because each veneer module is interwoven with its neigboring module, moving one part of In-Out Curtain produces an unexpected subtle shape change to the overall array of modules.

In the first step of this exercise, you will explore the structural logic in modular systems by analyzing a simple example from the below list. You will work in groups of four to produce an info poster and a free-scale working model of the design elements, modules and rules in the system.
